Since all of the participants were new to Cre8 and the Cre8 in 8 approach, we decided to add two more days to the three day training. In this time the group created a ‘mini’ festival following the cre8 in 8 steps in a ‘pressure cooker’ situation.
December 1st 2017
End of November 2017, we trained a group of 22 youths from 8 different groups in Moshi, Tanzania. After this three day training the group organised its own project in which they worked towards a presentation in April 2018. Harri and Dina were present at that finale.
May 15th 2016
In April and May of 2016 Harrison Okwach, Dina Abok (Yaden) and Ben Hekkema (Cre8) trained 40 young leaders from cultural youth groups in Kisumu (Kenya) and Gulu (Uganda) on the Cre8 in 8 approach. In both locations twenty participants attended.
July 1st 2011
In 2011 and 2012 Cre8 was in Gulu, Uganda. We organised a music theater project together with Yaden and local partners. Gulu is located in the poor north, where civil war has raged for a long time.
June 30th 2009
Cre8 realised a music theater project in Tanzania in 2009 and 2010. We did this in collaboration with Mkombozi, a rehabilitation center for street children in Arusha and Moshi.
December 10th 2007
Cre8 East Africa’s second project took place in December 2007 in Yala, Western Kenya and in Poeldijk, the Netherlands. Cre8 produced a music theater performance with the theme: ‘How do I shape my future?’
August 15th 2006
At the request of the local community, Cre8 East Africa carried out its first (pilot) project in August 2006 in Dunga, West Kenya. The project was in cooperation with teachers and students from the local primary school and a team of local artists.
